ABOUT MY PRACTICE

I have been practicing Yoga for 20 years and teaching for 7 yrs. I first trained in Ashtanga Yoga with the C.Y.S in Scotland, following this year long course I then continued my teacher training in Vinyasa Flow with Meadowlark, Edinburgh. Realising there was a need for teaching pregnancy Yoga in my area, I pursued a course in pre and post natal Yoga. During the pandemic I continued my CPD training in Yin Yoga and Yoga for Menopause. I am currently training in Classical Yoga with my Ayurvedic teacher, Dr Deepa Apte, with Ayurveda Pura Academy, London.

Come and find me in my Yurt which is based in North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland. In this beautiful rest and relaxation space I teach Yoga as well as offering Ayurvedic consultations and Ayurvedic Massages and treatments.

    Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa flow is an approach to yoga in which you move from one pose directly into the next in an unbroken wave however the poses and the pace of the flow vary from one instructor to the next. You may also hear the term Ashtanga yoga used interchangeably with Vinyasa. Ashtanga Yoga is a style of yoga popularised by K. Pattabhi Jois during the 20th century and is veiwed as a modern-day form of classical Indian yoga. The style is energetic, synchronising breath with movements and creates the foundation of the Vinyasa flow style of yoga.

Yoga to Bed - Moon Salutation Flow

Moon Salutations are considered cooling and calming for the body as opposed to a more heating practice like Ashtanga Vinyasa flow where we move through Sun Salutations. Moon Salutations are particularly useful for practicing during a full, new or waning moon as it’s during these times when the body's energy is naturally thought to be lower. They are also particularly beneficial during warmer months and also make a wonderful evening practice.

  • Yoga nidra - yogic sleep. A woman relaxing on the grass

Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep, it is a borderline state between waking and sleeping and is a form of guided meditation where we explore different states of consciousness. Yoga Nidra has a measurable positive effect on the brain and nervous system, through regular practice it has the capacity to counteract stress and hyperactivity in the prefrontal cortex, it helps us relax, to access deep rest and sleep, it connects us to our creativity and helps us heal on an emotional and mental level. Wear comfy clothing!

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.
